A2 Year Planner
After trying monthly calendars for a few years, we switched to a year planner for 2025. This reduced the paper waste and made it easier to plan ahead. As the new year nears, we’re ordering a second yearly planner for 2026.
As 2025 ends, I can’t see into early 2026: school holidays, FOSDEM and other events. We could fix this by ordering earlier. The frustration proves that the year planner works, we’re actually using it!

Like the monthly planner, I generate this using HTML/JS/CSS, then generate a PDF through the browser. Normally I use LibreWolf, but switched Chrome to generate this PDF, as it offers the A2 paper size.
I made very few changes compared to the previous year;
- Adopted Nederlands and 2-letter formatting for the days of the week
- Behind the scenes refactored the JS
- Switched from pink to millenial green for the colour
Ideas for future iterations:
- Post the PDF generator tool online
- Embed custom fonts
- Customise the accent colours
- Additional overlays, for example phases of the moon
- Add a feature to mark important dates
